Title also why cuz it doesnt make u appear wider

it doesn't, most aesthetic physiques have relatively narrow rib-cages.

but a larger rib-cage allows for more muscle, just like larger bones in general do, so it's better for open bodybuilding, but no one that does that looks good.

large rib cage = less athletic more powerful like a powerlifter or a powerfull rugby athlete

small rib cage = more agility faster sprint speed

This is agreed by sports scientists btw so biologically there isnt a one is better than the other it doesnt matter. bidelt matters much more because it signifys high androgen receptors or whatever

what about steve reeves, did he not have wide rib cage?

not particularly.

his proportions are similar to mine and I have a tiny rib-cage, the flaring you see underneath the arms is all muscle.

only if the rib cage width to iliac crest ratio is >= 1
below that = female hourglass bone structure that 99% of ppl with narrow rib cages have
david laid and skywalker have narrow rib cages but narrow iliac crests to accommodate it

but you'll never see them do a stomach vacuum cuz their rib cages are cucked

do you do any particular exercises/movements to target that area, ive heard dumbbell pullovers are pretty effective for that

you can have a bit of an hourglass and look fine, most people do, some prime examples of that are lex little, hemsworth, even henry cavill has a bit of an hour glass figure.

I don't think he makes any attempt to hide it.

overbuilt obliques from years of heavy squatting + that pose exaggerates them

his baseline shows his true bone structure, tiny iliac crests

i don't consider lexx, hemsworth, or cavill to be aesthetic at all

the shape of your rib-cage is the least of your worries if you're fat.
i vacum my stomach and only thing i realize my ribcage is really high set
