Correct, If you admit to being wrong then you're 100% done. If you lie then there is at least a probability to getting away with it. There was a time when being this kind of person would be considered absolutely deplorable but nowadays there just isnt really any consequence for it, you're literally expected to lie in many situations

Bad advice occasionally its good but when you double down and someone knows you've lied you cannot save face. I've done this before with someone who lied to me and some friends and I had proof he took some money anyways made him irredeemable in their eyes and I was able to get him in more trouble.

Accountability when dealing with civil people is 100% necessary we sadly live in a more and more uncivil society if you fuck up and the person is genuine and they find out from you they will respect you more. If you lie to the wrong person and they find out you will get killed. Narcy types play a dangerous game where they have an advantage in society until their ego causes them to mess with the wrong person. The reason most people are not dark triad is because every dark triad person especially in Europe where it was cold and high trust societies formed would be killed.
