Yes it's very competitive. All the clubs already have people on speed dial who they can call up at a moments notice. Not to mention I only have an FLX4 which is an entry level controller. These dudes have like $5000 setups, and it's hard to compete. It's like mixed 50/50 some places have their own set ups, others want you to bring your own. It's a requirement to be able to DJ in these places to have your own controller/setup in case they don't their own.

I live in a very Spanish part of NYC so the clubs here play Spanish music and rap and not that my specialty/what I like to play. It sucks because that's boring there's way less mixing involved when you play that music at clubs. Obviously it still requires some skill and know how, but I don't like it. Not many places here that play house/techno full time and it sucks.

I'd imagine the house/edm scene is a lot more prevalent where you live? I would love to go to those clubs. Maybe one day even DJ at a place like that. I've only DJed at a handful of clubs, but only one was an actual place that wanted techno music played. Not very common here.

Don't give up. Maybe focus on increasing value of your own DJ-brand. (increased social-media attention. Increased quality/volume of your sets.) But I know you have already tried this and know about this. I am just spewing pointless advice here without substance. Maybe something hits you somewhere.

But most importantly, keep believing in yourself.
You are a DJ with an unique sound. A unique taste, a unique way of how you would like a 2 hour-set in a club to be like, to feel like, when listening to you.
DJing some reggaeton for money. Nothing wrong with that.

But keep focussing on the sound that you really want people to hear, and promoting that where you can.

What you are telling me is only music to my ears. It is only good things you are telling me, even if you don't perceive it as such.

You clearly know what you don't like and what you like instead. You know what you need to change/improve, what you don't like and need to avoid, and where you would want to be instead. You made all of these things clear to me and that's really good.

I don't have knowledge of your local scene, etc. But that doesn't matter. Listening to what you are telling me, you already know what you need to do. You already know which parts of your DJ-life you don't like, which parts you like, etc. So I don't need to tell you anything, you already deep-down know what steps you need to take.

Maybe you are missing confidence, social support. Maybe you are missing financial support. Etc. But you know, you know where you need to be, what is missing, and so on.

Maybe I have too high expectations, I don't know. So don't want to stress myself that much, it was a fun night, just not special/perfect. Can't be this hard on myself.

Then today I am again using drugs alone in my room, mephedrone+alcohol this time. Just snorted a big line waiting for it to kick in, but it is the most disgusting chemical shit I have ever tasted/smelled honestly.
I almost had to vomit after snorting this fat line of mephedrone, I don't know why. I've done this so many times. I am completely disgusted by the smell and taste of it somehow today.
Most disgusting vile caustic chemical ever. Much worse than cocaine or ketamine. Disgusting.

The effects are there but they just aren't as intense or interesting anymore as it was like a year ago. When I was having the best fucking time of my life doing mephedrone on my own.
Just isn't the case anymore.

I think this is my time to move on.

I still want to use drugs/alcohol for social events, raves etc. I am not against it.
But I need to stop this solo use as it just isn't interesting anymore. Only do shrooms every once in a while or smth.

Well not to be offensive or rude but you have said this before. You weren't ready to move on. It means you're doing it out of habit. I'm not saying this is you but at one point my entire personality was about doing drugs. I didn't know how to change my life or make an impact on people if I wasn't doing drugs. My entire friend group was just revolving around us doing drugs together. We didn't give a fuck about each other unless the other people had drugs, then we cared. Sometimes you just get burnt out but you gotta cure the actual root causes before you can stop doing drugs. Well I say this but I didn't cure my root causes I just stopped because I had to. You're a smart guy you'll get through it.

Shrooms was crazy first time but your brain develops a tolerance. It's never as good as your first time. Maybe the universe in some kinda way is giving you signs to stop.

Yes I agree for raves it's kind of necessary. It makes it more special when you don't anything aside from occasions where you go to raves. In some kind of way it might even encourage you to go out more. Life is like a snowball rolling down a hill: things can get exponentially better when you get the ball rolling. If you don't push, the ball stays small and gets no momentum.

You never wanna stagnate. I've been stagnating since my ex broke up with me in October 2022. I was doing coke everyday staying up and drinking 1.75l every day/day and a half. I still drink heavily. I was supposed to quit but it's hard because I will fall back to doing harder drugs if I am completely sober. It's very hard for me to want to stay completely sober.

I agree that it's hard to find something "better" or more fun. It's hard bro. Drugs stop being fun or "exciting" when you start doing it everyday. It's very hard but I believe in you bro. You just need to be completely ready. I actually had a friend quit ketamine a week ago and stopped doing drugs. He gave me like 1g of ketamine and around 10 xanax and I went through all the ket in 2 days and the xanax in around 3 days. I try to avoid drugs because when I get started I don't know how to stop myself.

I used to hate when people told me things like this because in my mind it's not true so it actually caused me pain, but you're a good looking guy bro.
